The process of making a pet fired bud vase Begins at the potters wheel, The vessel is thrown and then semi-burnished, left to dry and then the burnishing is completed. It is then fired to bisque temperature and the fun can begin! I go out into the countryside and along the coastline where I live in Cornwall on the Lizard Peninsula and collect organic materials which can be fired surrounding the pot which create all the interesting colour and pattern that you can see on the pot. On this vase I can see that it has been influenced by seedheads, seaweed and copper wire along with (dare I say it?) Organic cow manure From the farm where I live! The vase has been cleaned thoroughly and waxed to a lovely smooth finish which is very tactile. A pit fired pot Should be picked up and observed because every angle around 360° is different and you could have a different view for every day of the year! Please note that pit fired vases are porous and should only be used for decoration or dried flowers!
This bud vase is 9cm tall and 12cm wide
